More from James on the road…
Amp kept breaking down mid-song but Mark and Jerry (sound engineers) did amazing and the crowd really helped.
Highlight of the evening- I nice couple people got their money out to buy an album and were handing over the change to Suzy when they suddenly realised that it wasn’t Scott’s album. They awkwardly pocketed their money and walked away.
I still haven’t been signed up by Island Records but some bloke offered me 2 songs at open-mic in the local Firkin.
PS. We also drove past a place called Sheepy Parva
James Summerfield supports National Autistic Society on UK Tour

NAS PRESS RELEASE: 21st May 2009
James Summerfield supports National Autistic Society with album and tour
Birmingham singer-songwriter, James Summerfield, is supporting the National Autistic Society (NAS) by donating £1 from his latest album ‘Count To 10 & Start Again’ and collecting money for the charity at all of the gigs on his upcoming tour as he supports Scott Matthews.
The tour will take him from his home town of Birmingham to Nottingham, Oxford, Cardiff, Manchester, Bristol, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Leeds and Wolverhampton.
James said: “Autism is a cause very close to my heart as I have worked with children and adults with autism in the past. I hope that people will dig deep at the gigs and donate as much money as possible to the NAS as I know they work hard to support people with autism all over the country.”
NAS Head of Fundraising, Steve Cheshire, said: “We are really greatly to James for his generosity in supporting us in this way. Autism is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition that affects around 1 in 100 people. As a charity, we are dependent on donations and fundraising to continue to provide services and support to as many people as we can.”

From James, currently on the road with Scott Matthews:
“Hadn’t seen Scott for a couple of years and forgotten what a polite and lovely young man he was.
Highlight of the night- Mark (sound engineer) tripping over Robert Plant (how often can that happen?)
We also played, ‘bands with the name weener in them’
For Pink Weener, Weener Snake, Big Weener and so on.
In brief, I played shit but enjoyed myself. Scott sounded great.”
James to tour with Scott Matthews
James will shortly embark on an 11-date jaunt around the UK and Ireland as support act to acclaimed singer/songwriter, Scott Matthews. Tickets are available from the venues themselves and are selling fast, with the London date at The Bloomsbury Theatre on 3rd June already close to a sell-out.
Copies of James’ recent album, “Count To 10 & Start Again“, as well as releases from his back-catalogue will be available at venues throughout the tour.
Hope to see you there!
